Would it be best to lower the dringking age from 21 to 18? deciding wether to lower the age, is difficult because no only does it affect the drinker it affects us all.
In Alaska, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Mississippi, montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina, Texas, Virinia, Washington Wisconsin whyoming underage consumption of alcohol is allowed on alcohol-selling [remises with parental approval.
All over the United states , studies showed that by the age of 18 they have had at least 1 drink. Lowering legal drinking age o 18 could be dangerous to us and to the drinker, teens do drink less often tan adults, BUT when most teens do drink the drink a lo more tan what adults drink. and his shows tan studies are right, in saying that most teens do not know how to control how much they drink.
also in lowering to 18, it might give high schoolers and middle schoolers easier Access to alcohol, the reason is because usually new age drinkers(21 and up) often purchase alcohol for their underage Friends. Also there could be more accidents due to drunk driving and that some 18 year old could barely be getting their lisence. There was a sudy that showed that from 1975-2008, about 27,100 lives have been saved with the legal drinking age at 21. Also alcohol consumtion inerferes with earl brain development, potential for chronic problems such as greater vulnerability to addicion, dangerous risk takin behaivior, reduced decisión making ability, memory loss, depression viloence , and suicide thoughts are greater.
Though lowering legal drinking age cold be dangerous, it may have positive outcomes. If teens could go out and drink at restaurants, bars, clubs etc , where alcohol is controlled and where drugs are not permitted. they would be able to learn to control how much they ddrink rather tan going to a party where they o not have limits of how muh they can drink and they wouldnt be as exposed to drugs. At age 18 you are considered an adult, you can vote, smoke cigarettes, get married, sign contracts, join the military, if they are permitted to do that then why cant they decide wether or no they want to drink
In lowering the age of leagal drinking it could reduce injuries from under age drinkking drinkiking accidents because of fear of legal consequences if they saw medical attenton. also if they were able to drink in public places, it wouldhelp the economy because of more drinks being sold.
Legally being ableto purchase ad drink at age 18 could negative consequences like creating problems for epople younger tan 18, and how dinking has a hge impact on the brains dvelopment.
But legally being able to purchase could also bring positive consequences like bit culd lower how much 18year olds drink and how it would hep´the economy. so its hard to make a decisión because most of us know that most people are gonna do what they want wether its legal o not.
